Whenever you attempt the Netgear router login process, you are required to use the default admin details. Apart from that, you will also need details pertaining to the default IP or web address.
All these details together help you gain access to your Netgear WGR614V7 wireless router and manage it efficiently. But what if you have forgotten the username and password? This blog will walk you through the information you need to know to log in if you find yourself in such a situation.
Good to know facts
A networking device such as a router or a range extender has two passwords. One each for the setup wizard and the network that it relays.
Now, while you can always recover the details for the latter by simply logging in to the setup wizard, it is virtually impossible to recover the login details for the former, lest you have enabled the Password Recovery option.
Even if you haven’t, there’s still a way to regain access to your Netgear WGR614V7 router. This is done by resetting the device to factory settings. But, this should only be attempted if you are left with no other alternative.
Recover Login Details using the Password Recovery feature
If you have forgotten your Netgear router username or password, the password recovery feature can help. However, it will only work if you had enabled it during the initial setup procedure.
Otherwise, a factory reset is the only option left for you. Here are some steps you can follow to use the Password Recovery feature:
● Launch browser on your pc/wireless device that’s linked to your Netgear WGR614V7 wireless router.
● Type default web address routerlogin.net into the address bar and press Enter to reach the login page.
● Click on Cancel button you see on the page and the Router Password Recovery window will appear.
● Type in the Serial Number of your router in the space you see and click on the Continue button.
● Answer the security questions and again click on the Continue button.
This will now show you your admin password and username details on the screen.
Recover Netgear router login details using Factory RESET
A factory reset can help you regain access to your Netgear router setup wizard. It will delete all details including the device and network details that you have configured.
Here are some steps you can follow:
● Ensure that the router is powered on and there’s a light on the Power LED.
● Locate RESET button on rear of the router.
● Now, use a thin object like a pin or paperclip to press and hold Reset button for some time.
● Release the RESET button once the power LED on the front start to blink.
● Wait for some time till router reboots and completes the RESET operation.
